On April 17, PGCPS hosted its inaugural Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP ) Summit, marking a pivotal moment in the district's commitment to sustainability and community engagement!

Hosted by the Accokeek Foundation at Piscataway Park, the event was an opportunity for stakeholders to come together, share insights and collaborate on strategies for addressing climate change and promoting environmental stewardship.

The Summit featured a panel discussion on where we are and where we hope to be in meeting the goals outlined in our nationally-recognized CCAP; discussions on strategies for sustainability and climate resiliency; and presentations by peer school districts on their successes and lessons learned. Participants also sampled student field experiences on watershed history and climate change impacts offered by the Accokeek Foundation.

PGCPS’ dedication to sustainability extends beyond the Summit. Through initiatives like energy efficiency upgrades, green building practices, and environmental education programs, the district continues to make strides  to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices across facilities and operations.
