UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jim Coleman will join Prince George’s County Public Schools CEO Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell and other dignitaries as they announce the addition of Parkdale High School to the Youth CareerConnect program.
There will also be a major announcement about a new scholarship through the academy named in honor of former Parkdale High School principal Tanya L. Washington, who died suddenly in September.
TheYouth CareerConnect initiative (YCC) is funded by a U.S. Department of Labor grant, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education, to strengthen America’s talent pipeline by supporting stronger high school, postsecondary, workforce investment systems, and employer partnerships. Parkdale will join Fairmont Heights, Potomac and Bladensburg high schools as part of the Prince George’s County YCC program. Employers and mentors from the National Institute of Health, Lockheed Martin, Pepco, Dimensions and other high-profile companies have been working with students for the last three years through a $7 million YCC grant awarded in 2014.
