2025: Free Summer Meals Available at Open Sites Across Prince George’s County

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Department of Food and Nutrition Services will launch its annual Summer Food Service Program on Monday, June 23, providing free meals at 165 school sites for students enrolled in summer programs.

Beginning Monday, July 7, all children 18 and younger can receive meals at 16 open sites — eight schools and eight community locations — regardless of enrollment.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No registration or ID is required.

Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Operation dates are as follows:

  • June 23: Free meal service begins for PGCPS students enrolled in summer programs at designated sites
  • July 7 - July 31: Breakfast and lunch available to all children at school open sites. Hot meals will be served.
  • July 7 - August 8: Lunch available to all children at community open sites. Bagged meals will be served.

Families should note that only the 16 open sites offer drop-in meals; all other sites serve only students enrolled in on-site summer programs.

Additional free meals locations can be found on the Maryland Summer Meals website.

Meal service is available at both school and community locations at the times specified below.

2025 Summer Meals Program – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who is eligible to receive free summer meals?
All children 18 and younger may receive free meals at one of 16 open sites. Meals at closed enrolled sites are only available to students enrolled in a summer program operating at that school.

What is an open site?
Open sites allow any child 18 and younger to walk up during designated meal times and receive a free meal — no registration, ID, or enrollment required. Meals must be eaten on site. Open sites will operate July 7 through August 8 at eight schools and eight community locations.

What is a closed enrolled site?
Closed enrolled sites only serve meals to students who are officially enrolled in the summer program operating at that location. Unfortunately, drop-in meals are not available at these sites.

Can my child receive meals at any PGCPS location?
No. Only the 16 open sites offer walk-up meal service. Families should note: Only open sites offer drop-in meals. Do not visit a closed site unless your child is enrolled in a program at that location.

When do summer meals begin?

The first meal service begins Monday, June 23  at closed enrolled sites. Most meal sites, including the open sites, begin operations on Monday, July 7.

Where can I find the list of open sites and meal times?

Visit the PGCPS Summer Meals webpage or the Maryland Summer Meals site for updated locations and schedules.
