• What is Home Schooling?

Home schooling is instruction provided by a parent or legal guardian who desires to provide a home instruction program for his or her child, in lieu of enrolling the child in a public or private school. The home instruction program may include enrollment on a part-time or full-time basis in courses offered by accredited or unaccredited colleges.

It is important to note that a high school diploma is not issued by Prince George’s County Public Schools to a child who receives home instruction through grade 12. Children, who do so, may take the General Education Development test (GED).  A child who successfully completes the GED will receive a Maryland State diploma.
