Early Departures

Students are expected to complete a full day of school.  Instruction ends at 1:55 p.m.  Early dismissal to facilitate parent convenience not only disrupts the class but also deprives the student of valuable instruction.  Parents are encouraged to make medical appointments after school hours.  All changes to dismissal MUST be made in writing.  Please do not call with last minute changes for dismissal because the office may not be able to deliver the message in time.  When an early departure is necessary, a note indicating the time, date, and reason for departure must be presented to the teacher at the beginning of the school day.  This enables the teacher to provide the student with any homework or class assignments that should be completed.  When a parent arrives to pick up his/her child, please, report to the Main Office and present your ID.  A Secretary will make sure that all documents are correct and all lists are checked and reviewed.  Once everything has  been approved, the Secretary will  notify the classroom teacher over the intercom.  Teachers are not allowed to release students from their classrooms without authorization from the office.  Students are not allowed to walk home at any time during the school day.  Students who have an EMERGENCY early departure must be picked up before 1:30 p.m. to help eliminate traffic congestion at dismissal time.  After 1:30 p.m., the office will not accept a change in dismissal procedure.  Five (5) or more early dismissals will be forwarded to PPW (Pupil Personnel Worker) and updated proof of residency will be requested.
