• Thursday, March 22 - Code Orange - Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) – Schools and offices will open with a two hour delay. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave.

    • There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
    • There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
    • Any other school program requiring transportation prior to 12 noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt).
    • All field trips will be cancelled.
    • Food Services will offer breakfast.
    We will re-evaluate at 6:30am.

Kids For Science STEM Fair (KFS)

Our 28th Annual Kids For Science STEM Fair will be held at Eleanor Roosevelt High School located at 7601 Hanover Parkway Greenbelt, Maryland 20770. 

The Prince George's County Public Schools System (PGCPS) is steadfast about continuously promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in new and innovative ways with our students.  Our upcoming Kids for Science STEM Fair for grades 3 through 5 is one of the ways that PGCPS displays our students’ engagement in STEM. 

 We are expecting approximately 400 student participants from grades 3 through 5 to display projects in the following categories listed below: 

·       Animal Sciences
·       Chemistry
·       Computer Science/Technology
·       Earth Science
·       Engineering
·       Environmental Sciences
·       Mathematical Sciences
·       Physics and Astronomy
·       Plant Sciences. 

 The awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the school’s auditorium.

KFS Schedule: Saturday, May 19, 2018

 8:15 a.m.              

All participants will report to the Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s cafeteria (Exhibit Hall), to stand by their projects to prepare for judging. 

8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.               


12:30 - 1:15 p.m.                       

Lunch break for all participants. 

1:30 - 3:00 p.m.                        

Open House:  ALL students must remain with their own project to discuss their investigation with the visitors. 

3:00 – 3:15 p.m.                         

All projects must be removed from the gym prior to the awards program or projects will be discarded at 3:30 p.m.

 4:00 p.m.
