Goals of the Initiative:

  • Provide alternative, creative, and engaging instructional strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide opportunities for student social/emotional growth
  • Improve student achievement, behavior, and engagement
  • Support classroom environments that are student-centered and encourage creative expression
  • Enhance student creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills

Arts Integration Highlights

  • The Prince George's Artist/Teacher Institute (PGATI) immerses up to 100 teachers in participatory arts integration workshops each summer;
  • The Arts Integration Master Teacher (AIMT) program provides interested teachers with deepened opportunities, feedback, and coaching to implement arts integration strategies in their classrooms;
  • The Secondary AIMT cohort prepares Middle and High School students to participate in the "Beats, Verses, Boom!" Poetry Slam;
  • One-time workshops in various arts integration strategies are open to all PGCPS teachers throughout the school year;
  • Schools can request additional support and professional development from the Arts Integration Department.
