48th Student-Built House Project Kickoff!

The Foundation for Applied Construction Technology for Students (FACTS) Board hosted a groundbreaking ceremony, during which Senator Ron Watson and County Councilwoman Ingrid Watson presented a $200,000 check to fund the purchase of a lot for the latest student-built house project.

Each year, the student-built house project offers students a hands-on educational experience that equips them with essential skills for future success, all while giving back to the community. It also paves the way for new opportunities for students to gain practical, real-world experience in the construction industry.

Crossland High School senior Sharon Coates, a masonry student, shared her pride in being part of the program, especially as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field. "I want to prove that women can excel in this trade just as much as men," she said, highlighting her dedication to breaking barriers and inspiring future generations.
