UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The Prince George’s County Board of Education today welcomes two new members. Dr. Donna L. Wiseman, former dean of the University of Maryland College of Education, was appointed Wednesday morning by County Executive Rushern L. Baker III to fill the at-large vacancy left by Dr. Beverly Anderson. Student member Amanya Paige will be sworn-in Wednesday evening.

“As a former public school teacher, I firmly believe our focus must be on the students and teachers in the classroom,” said Wiseman, who will serve a four-year term on the Board. “If I can help move the county’s schools to the next level in any area, it will be worth it. There is so much hope, so much potential in our schools and that’s why I am excited to be a member of the Board of Education.”

Paige, a rising junior and National Honor Society member at Parkdale High School, will serve a one-year term on the Board, ending June 2018. She will offer the student perspective on a range of issues, including school infrastructure and academic programs.

An International Baccalaureate student and National Society of High School Scholars Ambassador, Paige has received multiple recognitions for academic excellence, activism and leadership. She is a member of the Maryland Association of Student Councils, student ambassador at the Maryland Center at Bowie State University and serves on the Prince George’s Regional Association of Student Government.

In addition to the swearing in of Wiseman and Paige, Dr. Segun C. Eubanks was reappointed as Board Chair.
