In partnership with Kaiser Permanente and Prince George’s County Health Department, PGCPS works to protect employees against COVID-19
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Today, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Monica Goldson announced plans to offer all Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) employees COVID-19 vaccinations ahead of students returning to school buildings for in-person learning this spring.
Prince George’s County has started phase 1B for COVID-19 vaccinations, which prioritizes educators and support staff. PGCPS will partner with the Prince George’s County Health Department and Kaiser Permanente to administer the vaccine to school system employees. Vaccinations will start Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover and next week at the Kaiser Permanente Lanham Rehabilitation Center. The clinics are expected to run for about six to eight weeks.
“From the beginning of the pandemic, the safety of PGCPS employees and our students has been my top priority as we navigate these unprecedented times,” said Dr. Goldson. “I am grateful to partner with Kaiser Permanente and Prince George’s County Health Department in this work to protect our employees. I encourage all employees to get vaccinated as a shield for their own health, their family’s well-being and the safety of the children and families who we serve.”
Since the start of the pandemic, PGCPS has sought to provide the best information available based on science and data. This will continue with the help of health care, county government and community partners.
PGCPS continues to assess options for resuming in-person learning this spring. The school system will provide an update in mid-February.
