Under the supervision of the Instructional Supervisor, the Family Service Worker implements and maintains family-based case management for families at the assigned school/center. The Family Service Worker assists with implementing, monitoring, and hosting early childhood programs and services for children and families to address the 12 Component Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education Judy Centers. The employee works with families to establish goals and partner with community agencies to achieve these goals.
>Participates in recruitment, enrollment, and maintaining data on families who enroll in the program;
Assists, plans, and schedules parent events; works with parents to encourage participation in events;
Communicates to other agencies the needs of families;
Maintains and updates database on families served by the school/center;
Collaborates with partner programs to implement program activities;
Attends local, state, and national workshops and meetings as required by the Judy Center;
Coordinates access to community resources and follow-up;
Supports families by assisting with resolving transportation, child care and other social issues;
Participates in Maryland State Department of Education site monitoring visits;
Acts as a liaison to assist families with connecting to community resources, agencies, and programs that provide early childhood programs, health, dental, and other social services;
Supports outreach and recruitment of children from birth to four years old; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
Excellent team building skills;
Thorough knowledge of early childhood programs and services available to families;
Ability to work effectively with parents, students, school staff, and external agency representatives to support the early childhood educational needs of young children and families;
Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative in carrying out program duties and responsibilities;
Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Google Docs and Applications, and other online tools;
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; and
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Completion of a standard high school diploma or GED required; two years of college preferred with some course work in early childhood development, social services or related field preferred. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in family service, community or social work.
