How to Sign Up for SmartBenefits

Welcome! Follow the steps below to get a SmarTrip card and request SmartBenefits. Before you start the process, make sure your bus route is eligible.

How to Request SmartBenefits

STEP 1 – Get a SmarTrip card and register it. 

STEP 2 – Add the card to a SmarTrip account.

STEP 3 – Request SmartBenefits.

  • Log into your SmarTrip account.
  • Click on your SmarTrip card number to go to the Card Summary page.
  • Click the Join SmartBenefits link in the upper right hand corner.
  • Enter the PGCPS organization code: 2PmO52zX
  • Follow prompts to access the Desired Benefit page.
  • Enter $48 in the Metro Transit Passes row.
  • Click Continue and follow prompts to complete your request. If approved, you’ll receive an email notification that your first round of transit pass benefits will be issued on Mar. 1, 2022.

STEP 4 – Claim your 7-day Regional Bus Pass EACH week

  • If approved, log into your SmarTrip account If this is your very first time: You can claim a pass as early as Mar. 1 and start using the pass the day after your claim (as early as Mar. 2).
  • Click your SmarTrip card number to go to the Card Summary page and scroll down to confirm your SmartBenefits balance.
  • Click the Add Pass button and scroll down to the 7-Day Regional Bus Pass.
  • Click Add.
  • Click View Shopping Cart.
  • Click Checkout to review your order.
  • Click Submit Order. Your SmartBenefits will automatically be applied to your order.
  • Repeat the process above each week at least one day before your current pass expires.

STEP 5 – Use your SmarTrip card on Metrobus and ride the R2 route to High Point’s front door!
