School Celebrations

  • We are celebrating our amazing 8th Grader Ms. Arna Gumgol who attended The Academies by Harvard Student Agencies weekend course on Human Anatomy. Ms. Gumgol was recommended by her 8th Grade Science Teacher Dr. Melad, Arna attended the session on Human Anatomy - Systems of the body.  The Academies by Harvard Student Agencies. The Academies are Harvard-taught programs for high school students that foster intellectual and pre-professional growth.  Between business, coding, government, and pre-med, The Academies help ease the stress of figuring out your future. Participants can explore interests and make confident decisions as they begin thinking about college. The Academies are also uniquely positioned to connect participants to Harvard undergraduate mentors who can offer valuable advice on the college admissions landscape.  The one weekend intensive Virtual Academies are the perfect opportunity to connect with Harvard students without having to leave home.   We are proud of you Arna.
  • Prince George’s Area STEM Fair 2023:  We had five outstanding science scholars represent BTMS at the 75th Annual PGASF: Ellery Romero Aguilar, Mylia Lawson, Queenie Zhou, Julianne Soriano, and Tomiloba Olateju.  Mylia Lawson placed 3rd Overall in the Engineering Category and both Mylia and Queenie Zhou received Outstanding Engineer Awards from the Society of Women Engineers.
  • META Engineer Impact Award 2023:  Mr. Cromer and his AVID students have been working on a partnership with DEILAB and META to explore engineering design and careers.  One of the teams of 6th grade students was awarded the Engineering Impact Award for their insightful prototype design of a solar powered car.  They wish to solve the problem of the rechargeable batteries running out of charge too soon and to make a car that is more affordable for the average person to buy.  Congratulations Team:  Amber Bito, Ayden Haynes, Isaiah Onibudo, and Ayokunle Falde.
  • Student Shouts-Out:  This section recognizes students who have noticeably shown human kindness, politeness, helpfulness, and/or courtesy, during the past month, to other students and staff.  Any student or staff can email sonia.brooks@pgcps.org to give a shout-out to a student.  Thank you students.
