Cell Phone Policy

This is a reminder of our district’s cell phone policy. Students are not permitted to use their cell phones during regular school hours and must be completely turned off (not in silent or vibrate mode). It is a violation of the policy to share or post any images or pictures that have been taken or stored on these devices while on school property.

Students are permitted to use cellphones on school property only:

  • Before and after regular school hours, or with the permission of the school staff member or teacher in charge.
  • At after school activities.
  • In an emergency situation.
  • For instructional use, as approved by the student’s teacher.

Students will be given a verbal warning first, telling them to turn off and put away their cell phone. Violations shall result in the following consequences:

  • FIRST OFFENSE- The student’s cell phone will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the school day. Parents will be notified by the teacher.
  • SECOND OFFENSE- The student’s cell phone will be confiscated and returned only to the student’s parent/guardian. Parents will have until 4 PM to pick up their child’s phone each day.
  • THIRD OFFENSE- Students committing repeated violations shall be subject to additional disciplinary action.

Parents, please help us in maintaining a quiet, distractless learning environment for all of our students. Please help us in reminding your child to have their cell phones “OFF AND OUT OF SIGHT” while in school. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Educationally Yours,

Anita Stoddard
