What's New?

Optimizely Upgrade to CMS12 Coming

We are in the middle of an upgrade to our content management system, Optimizely. We are migrating from CMS11 to CMS12.

Here are some sneak previews of what's in store for our editors:

Tell Us: What do you want to see on your website?

Please take a moment or two to share with the Web Services team your ideas/comments/challenges with editing your school or office website. We will use these responses to guide our website improvement plan for this coming school year.  We appreciate all the work you do to keep our website up to date and accurate!

For Schools

  • If Google calendars, sites, documents or social media accounts are owned by a staff member leaving your school, you will lose access to them. Update permissions before they leave!
  • Update school supplies page if needed
  • Remove old announcements and content (archive)
  • Edit Welcome or Principal’s Welcome letter page and remove text related to School Year 23-24
  • Change home page link cards and/or card carousel to put Supplies, Uniform, etc. in a more prominent location

Accessibility Central

Try Out a Screen Reader

A great way to see if your site is accessible to people with vision disabilities is to test it using a screen reader.

For PCs

For our PCs, we have used the free screen reader NVDA to read our sites.

You can learn more about NVDA and how to install it here.

For MACs

MACs have a built-in screenreader - VoiceOver.

Learn how to use VoiceOver here.

Training

Get a summer staff member trained in editing your website

We know how the school staff greatly reduces during the summer. In preparation for updating the website during the summer, designate a summer staff member to become an editor, too.

We offer training twice a month so there is plenty of time to get trained before school is out!
