Joe Kautzer

Principal

Mr. Kautzer believes that education remains the clearest way of improving one’s health, social circumstances, and life. That belief is at the foundation of why he enjoys being an educator, and at the core of any leadership decisions. 

Mr. Kautzer has been  Principal of Bowie HS since 2020.  His PGCPS career began in  2011, starting as a high school English teacher and baseball coach  at Potomac HS before becoming an Assistant Principal at Bowie HS in 2016. Prior to joining PGCPS he taught English 101 at the University of Maryland and helped inmates earn their GEDs in Jessup, MD.

When he’s not hanging out with the Bulldogs, you can usually find “Mr. K” chasing after his two young children or watching a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.

André Esters

Assistant Principal

A native Midwesterner, Mr. Esters (Mr. E) began his career in education in 2005. He studied English and secondary education at Howard University. And he obtained a master’s degree in English literature from American University.

Beginning as an English teacher in Miami-Dade Public Schools, Mr. E taught English at Broward College and Howard University before joining Prince George’s County Public Schools. Prior to joining Bowie High School, he was a literacy coach in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction.

An avid traveler, Mr. E has visited over 35 countries and enjoys learning about foreign cultures.

Mr E is a 9th grade administrator for students with last names A through K.   He supports the science, world languages, and health departments.

Aisha Mahoney

Assistant Principal

Ms. Mahoney began her career as a dedicated educator with Prince George’s County Public Schools in 2005. During her career she has served in many capacities within the school system to include: middle school Reading and Language Arts instructor, mentor teacher, academic dean, instructional coach, and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator. As an administrator she works with teachers to use data to drive student-led instruction.  “The measure of  who we are is what we do with what we have!” - Vince Lombardi

William Poulakos

Assistant Principal

Mr. Poulakos has served PGCPS as an educator for seven years teaching Advanced Placement Social Studies classes and coaching the baseball team at Parkdale High School.  He has focused on teacher leadership through various roles which include serving as a Professional Development Lead Teacher, Mentor Teacher, and U.S History Team Lead.  He believes that every student can succeed with the proper work ethic, attitude, and guidance. 

Mr. Poulakos attended the University of Maryland and obtained degrees in History and American Studies.  During his time at UMD, he helped coach the club baseball team and was involved in a variety of other organizations.  He also earned a Master’s degree from the American College of Education in Educational Business Administration.

During time away from BHS, Mr. Poulakos enjoys a simple life with his wife three-year-old son, and one-year old daughter.

Lisza Morton-Wilson

Mrs. Morton-Wilson (Mrs. MW), a native of Michigan, who attended “The Hampton University”, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biological Science. She began her career in education as an full-time Assistant Professor of Biological Science in the Virginia Community College System. In 1998, she joined PGCPS as a science teacher and  has held various leadership positions within the district.

Mrs. Morton-Wilson is enthusiastic about living and working in the Bowie community and firmly believes that all students deserve a free, quality education.  

When not working Mrs. MW can be found working out, shopping and traveling.

Helen King

Assistant Principal

Helen King has 40+  years of experience as an educator, 30  plus of which has been in administration in PGCPS. She began her career in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. Ms. King enjoys traveling and has a background in Science to include Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  She teaches on the college/university levels and has been a lifelong learner having attained multiple degrees.

She loves to see students in the community as successful adults contributing to society. She also loves flying and entertaining.

Ms. King is the 11th grade assistant principal and supports, FACS, Business, CCRD and several other duties.

Shauna Watson

Ms. Watson's educational career began as a dedicated teacher in a non-public school in Baltimore County, Maryland. In 2006, she joined Prince George's County Public Schools at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Throughout her career, Ms. Watson assumed diverse roles, including Chair of the World Language department, Mentor for MCERT and Resident Teacher programs, New Teacher Academy Facilitator, Testing Coordinator, and ESOL Administrator, showing dedication to comprehensive assessment strategies and fostering an inclusive learning environment. Drawing from her experiences and educational background, Ms. Watson firmly believes in the power of teacher preparation, equity, and data-driven instruction.

Ms. Watson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College.

Beyond work, Ms. Watson enjoys quality time with family and friends, traveling, and embracing diverse cultures.

Currently, as the 12th-grade Assistant Principal, Ms. Watson continues to impact the lives of students and educators, fostering a nurturing and thriving learning environment for all.

Darrin Lee

SEAD Coordinator

Mr. Lee has 30+ years of experience in the education of students with unique learning needs.  He started his career as a Speech/Language Pathologist in DC Public Schools and the Archdiocese of Washington after completing a career in the US Army.

Mr. Lee believes in the opportunity that education affords an individual. He holds degrees from Hampton University, Howard University, Bowie State University and The George Washington University. Affectionately known as “Dr. Lee.,” He subscribes to the philosophy that leadership in education is all about service!
