Dear Parent/Guardian
Happy New School Year! What a magical first day of school! Today we welcomed Pre-K through fifth-grade students and they were so excited to meet their teachers. There’s nothing like a new school year with new teachers, new classmates, and a new mindset. We are ready for an exciting school year. This year, we will continue with our theme “Let the magic begin! Transforming the ordinary to the extraordinary.” We will go above and beyond our daily expectations to reach our goals as we fully implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) into our day.PBIS is a framework for supporting schoolwide practices to promote a safe school setting by supporting social, learning, behavioral, and emotional needs of all students.
Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, Synergy will replace SchoolMAX as the student information system for Prince George's County Public Schools. Families will now use ParentVUE, in place of Family Portal, to access important information about your students.
A PGCPS ParentVUE account is needed to complete the required Online Registration (OLR) Application to register your student in PGCPS. This application is completed for students new to PGCPS, transferring within the county, or returning to PGCPS.
A PGCPS ParentVUE account is used to view student information such as attendance, class schedule(s), and grades. Parents/Guardians can also update their phone numbers and/or emergency contacts within ParentVUE. Please click on the link to obtain additional information. ParentVUE
All Parents need to create a ParentVUE account. If your child is a bus rider, once you create your account, activate your stop finder account. Then create geo alerts for bus notifications. Parent Quick Start Guide: Stopfinder Video and Stopfinder Help/FAQs
PGCPS Volunteer Program provides the opportunity for parents, businesses, and the community to enrich the education of students. Volunteers extend teachers' and staff's professional skills and assist in meeting every student's unique needs. As a volunteer, you will join thousands of caring people from all walks of life who willingly share their time and talents in our schools in various ways. Volunteers play an essential role and are indeed making a difference for students. The complete application and approval process may take up to three weeks to complete.
All PreK and Kindergarten students that ride the bus are required to wear a safety vest to and from school to assist the drivers and bus attendants with student identification. This is to ensure all PreK and Kindergarten students are at the correct bus stop and to verify that there is an authorized adult or family member there to receive them. If the vest is misplaced, the replacement cost ranges from $5.00- $7.00 per student. Vests will be collected on the last day of school.
Back to School Night for ALL students will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 6:00 p.m. This is a time for parents to meet the classroom teacher and obtain information about the curriculum and grade level/school expectations.
Breakfast and Lunch is offered in all schools. All students are eligible to receive breakfast each morning at no cost through the Meals are no cost to students who are eligible for free or reduced priced meals.
