Hello Parents and Guardians,
Happy Summer……I am hopeful you are creating memorable moments with your friends and family!
We have officially entered SY 24-25. As a result, we are continuing to plan for the students' return. Last school year, we were able to break ground in many areas, including but not limited to: improved attendance, decrease in the number of chronically absent students, increase in the number of multilingual learners who increased their growth performance targets which puts them closer to exiting ESOL, and increase in our VAT (Vision Assistance Team) that is comprised of parents who voluntarily come to support us during the school day.
This school year OHMS is intentionally choosing “GROWTH OVER COMFORT.” Hence, every decision we make will ensure students are able to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. However, we cannot create and sustain growth without a partnership with YOU.
The foundation to our partnership is consistent and reciprocal communication. As a result, we are asking you to follow us on Twitter (@oxonhillmiddle) and to connect to SYNERGY (a new PGCPS platform that will replace SchoolMax). Another tool to learn about OHMS is the school website. The website will provide the information you need regarding uniforms, school supplies, school hours, teacher contact information, and how to upload absent notes/medical excuses, etc.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: ALL students report to school on Monday, August 26, 2024. However, Friday, August 23, 2024 is ORIENTATION for all NEW students to OHMS. Students will report to school in full uniform everyday (including ORIENTATION) unless you are notified otherwise. There will be no exceptions. If there are questions regarding uniforms, please reference our school website.
We welcome new and renewed partnerships this school year. Together we will continue to build upon the achievements of last year.
