Dear Online Campus Students and Families,
As we step into a new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you! Whether you are returning or new to our community, we are excited to have you with us and look forward to a year full of growth, exploration, and achievement.
The past three years have shown us the power of perseverance and the importance of staying connected, even when we are apart. We have learned so much about ourselves and our ability to adapt to new ways of learning. This year, we’re ready to build on those experiences and take our virtual education to the next level. We are especially proud to share that, for the third year in a row, The Online Campus graduated 100% of our students—a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community.
Our systemic priorities this year are:
One of our key goals this year is to enhance the sense of community within our virtual campus. To do this, we’re continuing monthly in-person events that will give you the opportunity to meet your peers, collaborate on projects, and form meaningful connections. We believe that these experiences will complement your online learning and help create a more well-rounded educational experience.
Over the summer, we were thrilled to meet individually with all of our new students, beginning to build relationships that will be the foundation of a successful year ahead. We believe that these early connections are vital in creating a supportive and welcoming environment for everyone.
To kick off the year, we will spend the first three days of school helping our students acclimate to their virtual environment and familiarizing them with our learning management system, Pearson. In addition to supporting our students, we are also focused on ensuring that parents and guardians have the resources they need. To this end, we will be hosting a parent training session in September. This session will cover how to navigate Pearson, which will be our primary platform for virtual learning this year.
Before this, we will also offer an orientation session for new students and families to provide more information about the school and our structure for this year. This session is scheduled for August 23 at 9:00 a.m., and we encourage those who are able to join us.
Currently, every student has a schedule, which can be viewed in the new Synergy platform. Students needing a Chromebook should reach out to their boundary school to obtain one, though they are welcome to use their own laptops or desktops if preferred. Please note that for state and local testing, students are required to use a school-issued device, so it is advisable to secure one as soon as possible.
As always, communication is key. If you ever have questions, need support, or want to share your thoughts, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our staff. This year, we have made a structural change, and while I oversee all grade levels, I will be the administrator responsible for supporting grades 7-8, and Mrs. Martin will be responsible for supporting grades 9-12. We are here to listen, help, and ensure that your time at The Online Campus is both rewarding and enjoyable.
We’re eagerly looking forward to seeing all students online on the first day of school, August 26th at 9:00 a.m. We can’t wait to kick off the year together and set the stage for an exciting and successful academic journey.
