What is EGATE Designation?

Glenarden Woods Elementary School has been recognized by the Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education as an Excellence in Gifted Education (EGATE) School. Our TAG Center Program has been awarded EGATE status and will serve as an exemplar for other schools with gifted learners. The award requires schools to document how their program aligns with the Maryland Criteria for Excellence: Gifted and Talented Education Program Guidelines. Qualifying schools are required to meet 18 out of the 21 objectives from four program components: Identification of Students, Curriculum and Instruction, Professionally Qualified Teachers and Professional Development, and Program Management and Evaluation. Glenarden Woods is proud to announce that our TAG Center Program has exceeded the criteria and met all 21 objectives.
