Egypt Middleton, School Nurse at Kettering Middle School, has been named the Maryland Association of School Health Nurses’ (MASHN) School Nurse of the Year, in honor of her dedication to student well-being, advocacy and community engagement.A veteran nurse with 21 years of experience, Middleton has been a cornerstone of school health since joining PGCPS in 2011.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing Education and is a Nationally Certified School Nurse. Since 2023, she has been an active member of MASHN, contributing her expertise to advancing student health initiatives across the state.Beyond her medical expertise, Middleton is a champion for student advocacy and wellness. At Kettering Middle School, she has cultivated a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel safe, empowered and cared for.
As organizer of the Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes, she engaged 300 students to raise awareness and funds for diabetes research. The initiative went beyond fundraising, educating students through an assembly that featured a peer’s personal story to foster empathy and understanding.
In addition to her work in PGCPS, Middleton has served as a Visiting Professor and Clinical Faculty member at Chamberlain College of Nursing for the past three years, mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
