- César Chávez grew up in a farm with his family. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. His family owned the farm and a grocery store. They were a happy family.

- César Chávez family moved to California looking for work after loosing their farm in the Great Depression. His family had to move very often looking for new jobs and he had to attend many different schools. He had to learn English. The family moved to California when he was 11 years old.

- At age 19 he joined the Navy for 2 years and returned to marry his girlfriend and to continue working to support Latinos to register to vote and work for equal rights. He created a union of farm workers known as "La Causa" or The cause. For many years, he work with the farmers to fight for better working conditions and civil rights.

Al regresar se casó con su novia y continuó trabajando en las granjas y ayudando a los latinos a inscribirse para votar y defender sus derechos civiles. Fundó una organización llamada "La Causa".
