ESOL

Ms. Amy Leatherman, ESOL Coordinator
Ms. Elizabeth Tapia, ESOL Teacher

The ESOL department here at César Chávez strives for excellence in teaching and student learning. We work to develop ESOL students reading, writing, listening, and speaking so that students reach their full potential in the classroom. We utilize a variety of instructional methods such as pull out, plug in, and co-teaching.

Parents can help ESOL students to develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills by:

  • Listening to books and asking their student to tell them about the book
  • encouraging students to keep a writing journal where they can complete free writing
  • frequent trips to the library to check out books
