Dear Families of our Eagle Scholars,

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Barack Obama ES (BOES). As I kick off my 10th year at BOES, I am energized and truly committed to making your child’s experience at our school memorable and one that has a positive impact in their lives. We will begin the 2023-2024 School Year on August 28th! We hope that you and your families found joy this summer and had plenty of time to relax and rejuvenate.

We are energized and truly committed to making your scholar’s experience at our school memorable and one that has a positive impact in their lives. We will accomplish this by continuing to set high expectations for our students and providing supportive spaces to assure they are met. With our focus on a positive school culture, engaging and rigorous curriculum as well as supportive learning environments we will continue to strive for educational excellence.

Barack Obama Elementary’s vision mirrors that of Prince George’s County Public Schools which is “a culturally responsive district developing distinguished learners, leaders, voices of social justice, and advocates for humanity for the world of today, tomorrow and beyond.” Our mission is “to provide a transformative educational experience anchored by excellence in equity – developing 21st century competencies and enabling each student’s unique brilliance to flourish in order to build empowered communities and a more inclusive and just world.”

We encourage each of you to be partners in your scholars education at Barack Obama ES and stay informed. We will continue to communicate via Class Dojo for school stories, class updates, and other important
information. Masks are no longer mandated for all students, teachers, and staff; however, you may choose to encourage mask wearing to school. If scholars would like to wear masks, parents will need to ensure they have a mask each day prior to leaving for school. Masks will not be provided this year.
