New Principal Introduction Letter

Dear DuVal High School Community,

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I introduce myself as the new Acting Principal of DuVal High School.
With over 17 years of experience in the field of education, I am honored to lead in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), the district that has shaped me and my professional growth and I am excited to take on this
leadership role at a school so deeply rooted in the community.

As a product of PGCPS, I have a unique appreciation and understanding of our district’s culture, values, and traditions. My journey in education has been diverse and enriching, having served as a World Languages teacher at Walker Mill Middle School, Archbishop Carroll High School (DC), Eleanor Roosevelt High School and James Madison Middle School, and, for the last eight years as an Assistant Principal at Crossland High School overseeing Career Technical Education (CTE) and multiple academic departments and programs. I am bilingual and currently pursuing National Board certification. Additionally, I have gained a renewed appreciation for teaching and learning and what support, strategies, and advancement opportunities our students need. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and insights necessary to support our students in achieving excellence.

I am passionate about creating an engaging and enriching high school experience for all students and a professional environment for faculty and staff to grow and develop professionally. I believe that education should be dynamic and inspiring, preparing students not only for the world we live in today but also equipping them with the skills and experiences needed for the world we aspire to create tomorrow. Our students deserve a learning environment where they feel valued, challenged, and supported.
Partnering with parents, families, and the community is another cornerstone of my educational philosophy. I am committed to fostering a collaborative environment with all stakeholders. By working together, we can bolster our programs and academics, ensuring that DuVal High School remains a place of innovation, achievement, and excellence.

I am looking forward to an academically rewarding school year for our students, a professionally rewarding year for our staff, and a year that parents, families and the community will be proud of.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Duval High School community. I am excited to meet each of you and to embark on this exciting journey together. Please join me for a Community Meet and Greet on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Cafeteria. In the meantime and beyond, I look forward to meeting students, staff, parents, community members, and alumni, and learning about your experiences, points of excellence, the rich history, and vision for our school and the community.

Your Partner in Education,

Denice D. Nabinett, Ph.D.
